⚖️ MURDAUGH MURDERS & TRIAL THREAD ⚖️

Y’all should read the latest article on fitsnews. They go into a lot of detail on the satterfield case, and if true, then it seems several people will be in trouble. Basically all they do is follow the money.
Yeah that article is pretty wild. Says the case was never even put on the docket or filed in court records. Sounds like Hampton County and the surrounding counties won't ever be the same after this and for the better of the common person.

Blown away it's taken them this long. I'd wager that SLED was telling them they didn't help during most of this. Now, if they truly dig, this is going to unearth some pretty crazy additional stuff.

maybe a question for the lawyers on the board but is it possible that the court order for the settlement is fake and forged?
The Satterfield Settlement? Sounds like there is some funny business going on.

I'm sure this has been share but:

"Eric Bland, a South Carolina attorney representing Satterfield’s two sons, said Mullen should not have even heard the settlement proposal considering that the case didn’t have a number and was never in the system."

Funny business indeed.

Looks like the FBI may be getting closer to stepping in...

"Both lawsuits have a key player, Alex Murdaugh’s lawyer friend and former college roommate, Corey Fleming. Cook’s attorneys alleged that Alex Murdaugh told Cook to "keep his mouth shut" after the boating accident and introduced him to Fleming, who gave him advice as his lawyer not to talk to police officers, The Post and Courier reported. Fleming has not returned a Fox News Digital request for comment.

Also without disclosing that Fleming is a close friend and Paul Murdaugh’s godfather, Alex Murdaugh allegedly introduced Satterfield’s sons to Fleming to handle a wrongful death lawsuit after their mother’s funeral. But a $505,000 settlement was secured without the sons’ knowledge and they’ve never seen the money. Settlements with other insurance companies might have been secured for a total amounting to around $4 million, attorneys claim."

Here is a question. If you were trying to get answers from a person why in the world would you allow that same person to direct you to a lawyer? I would have told him to kiss my ass. I will find my own lawyer. an that just screams conflict on interest. But, the real question is how many times has this happened in the past?

My suspicion is that they didn't think Murdaugh was at fault but wanted to make a 'money grab' against the insurance. Alex probably sold them on the idea.

The craziest part to me about the new unfiled settlement: The judge who signed it was in the same USC Law class as Alex Murdaugh. She was also the judge who decided to give Richard Quinn no time in the plea deal he reached with prosecutors, who were expecting him to get at least a year in jail.

Quinn and Murdaugh both appear to have gotten favors from the same judge. Quinn and Murdaugh both have a history of shady dealings with money.

Quinn is now charged with perjury for lying to the state grand jury when asked about an email he sent to state Attorney General Alan Wilson’s office in 2014. That email suggested that Pascoe be told he could not investigate Quinn’s son, who had been accused in a confidential State Law Enforcement Division report of “numerous allegations ... of official misconduct,” the new indictment said.

Interesting that the attorney general for the state is involved in both cases as well.

Probably the best thing that can happen. Most likely all the law enforcement agencies involved, including SLED, have been/are in bed with the Murdaugh's to some degree.
I know Mark Keel, head of SLED, personally. I can assure you that he is the most black and white person I have EVER met. He wouldn't pull favors, even for his family or close friends, not that I have asked. I am not saying that it isn't possible some agents might be "taken care of" to look the other way, but if he found out they would be gone yesterday.

I don't think this is accurate. Murdaugh was the money grabber.

My suspicion is that the boys never considered any "money grab," and only half-heartedly obeyed Alex Murdaugh's instructions after their mother's death. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that she never fell down any stairs and that Alex made up the entire story.

I don't know Mark personally but did know his dad, Jack. He does come from a very good family. However, Mark has only been over SLED since 2011. The Murdaughs have been in the "good ole boy" business for decades.
This may give Mark an opportunity to clean out some swamp creatures in the agency he heads up.

From where are the Keels?

Yeah, I am not sure how Judge Mullen survives this (professionally speaking). Of the three Resident Judges in the 14TH Circuit, I think the best case scenario is that one of the three survive this.

He was second in command before he went to head the Highway Patrol for Mark Sanford. Like I said, he is "no nonsense".

I know several people who like Judge Mullen, but what was presented in the article certainly did not look good.

IMO the most telling parts of the housekeeping settlement are the amount and that it was reached without filing suit. Is the case really worth that much? How do you convince an adjuster to pay that much without a threat of serious punitives, which you wouldn’t have if the accidental / dog story is true?

Could it be that he had crazy high levels of insurance so the settlement was way under the actual coverage? Just throwing it out there.
Or could he have a special relationship with this carrier, due to his years of dealing with insurance carriers? Perhaps he took lower settlements in some cases to build up a big favor, if there was an eff up in his life...
I am talking out of my ass but I'm curious.

That's what I was getting at. They were 'sold' on the opportunity by Murdaugh.

Its bc it happened in Hampton County.

Go to trial and the housekeeper’s family gets $25M

According to tax records, the Murdaughs acquired title to Moselle from a fellow named JM Boulware for a consideration of $5, which is an indication that something else was going on, as the property is obviously worth much more than that. Based on various online periodicals, it appears Mr. Boulware, who passed away several years ago, was a fisherman for over 40 years and was connected to the operation Jackpot. Interestingly enough, aerial photographs of the property show what appears to be a runway between the house and the road.

I see that often. You have to do a deed search for accurate information

Also, the deal was supposedly made to make up for owed legal fees. In his case, charges against Boulware were suddenly dropped after the government’s key witness stepped in front of a car in Miami and killed himself…
