⚖️ MURDAUGH MURDERS & TRIAL THREAD ⚖️

So, Murdaugh law firm, to no one’s surprise, says Elleck “Alex” had been ripping off clients and insurance firms for years.

My question… if Alex indeed killed his wife and son (likely) and killed the house keeper and stole the benefits (very plausible) and covered the murder of Steven Smith, would you consider his actions to be worthy of the death penalty?

In my mind, it’s a perfect case of ruler dictating who lives and dies and benefiting the whole time. It’s like an authoritarian throwing a live person on the sacrificial fire to his own benefit. It doesn’t get any more evil than this, and the abuse of power and trust makes it even more despicable. If he’s willing to kill his own wife and child to protect himself, what form of evil is he not capable of? Would he be worthy of a death sentence?
I don’t think AM killed anyone, but nothing would surprise me at this point.

Bump. Anyone else listen to the latest podcast? It’s crazy how the original crime that started this thread has taken a back seat to other crimes. Hopefully the guilty parties will all be held responsible.
Which podcast?

And which is the latest episode?

i disagree. He killed his wife and or Son, or was at the least involved in both deaths.
I can’t understand any other explanation. If you look at the stats, in this type of situation, 90% of the time, it’s the spouse. Not only that, he has a laundry list of reasons to do it and he clearly is comfortable with dealing in death and craziness (staging his own death, profiting off of Satterfield, telling everyone to shut their mouths instead of worrying about Mallory).

At this point, any investigator would tell you odds are 0 to slim someone else was responsible.

Unless the taxes are paid, appears that the Murdaugh Edisto property will be auctioned December 10, 2021.

The delinquent tax auction process doesn't auction the property. But if they don't repay within a set time (usually 1 to 2 years), then whomever wins the auction would own it, then would have to do clear the title, etc.

I got a rundown house in N Charleston a few years ago. I paid $1500 for it. After I took "ownership," the squatters left and left behind a painting worth about $3500, along with several heroin needles. I then cleaned up title and sold house for $50k to some Mexican dude. Shockingly, it all worked out well.

Somebody go bid on it! EDIT - If you pay the taxes, the property is yours, cleared of any other debt, is that correct?
Depends on the county. This is likely just to buy a certificate/tax deed that can be redeemed within a few year to actually foreclose on the property in sometimes first lien position(again, depending on the jurisdiction).

Basically, you pay the tax bill on behalf of the owner of the property and you get the interest. In places like Cook county I’ll and Wayne county MI, the interest is about 6%. That’s just phenomenal bc when you have a tax deed/certificate, one of two things happen.

1. you get your initial investment back plus interest

or

2. you now own a home that you only paid a few thousand dollars for.

When you say "clear the title" do you mean pay off any liens/mortgages on it? I assume those would have to be settled.

You get an attorney to do the quiet title work. Cost a few grand.
Yeah, that could be a real problem with something like this. You buy it for the delinquint tax amount and then wind up having to also clear the mortgage and any other liens.

yea, ya'll go ahead and pay the taxes on that property and see how it works out for you...... More than one Murdaugh out there with some serious in state pull. I'll throw in some money to the guy on here has the guts. I'll sit and watch on the sidelines
My guess is that the house is mortgaged to the damn gills.

Last sentence of NBC article: "You're perpetuating the lie that Alex Murdaugh put out, and that’s exactly what he's used to," McCoy said on "TODAY." "He's used to people listening to his word, and he's used to people taking that and running with it. And that's exactly what happened in this case."

In a he said/she said scenario, credibility is the trump card. AM allegedly has schemed so much that it is difficult to fathom a jury giving much weight to him and his version of the story. There's too much not to believe the tipping point hasn't been reached in the saga for the truth to come out.

People don’t buy these to get the properties. They buy them for the interest. There are several large companies or investors represented at these sales.

Drove by their house this past weekend in Edisto. There is a white cross placed in the front yard that I am not sure was placed there recently, but found it eerie given all of the events taking place.
Where's the house on Edisto? Sound/marsh or beach side?

The white cross was not out there when I was there a couple of months ago.

From this morning, including an interview with Dick Harpootlian on Good Morning America.

That Harpo GMA interview is terrible. Sweating, fumbling for words, doesn't have his messages straight, eyes darting all over the place.

Don't think that helped his client much.
