⚖️ MURDAUGH MURDERS & TRIAL THREAD ⚖️

Judge used the defenses argument about insidious drug addiction in his rationale to DENY bond at this time. He ordered Murdaugh to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Based upon Poots' response to the judge, one wonders if the next defense position is he lacks the mental ability to stand trial.

Best line was Bland equating AM's crime to robbery. Robbery by a gun. Robbery by a pen. Remarkable line. I'd hire Bland.

Most lawyers don't like Bland and Richter. They sue a ton of lawyers (malpractice).
No one should be above or immune to the law. Lawyers should not be immune to the laws that give them the right to sue others. They are subject to being sued or incarcerated too.

I have no issue with Poot defending AM to the best of his abilities. I have no issue with Bland suing lawyers. It's the legal profession and it's better to litigate issues in court than to take justice into one's hands literally.

Yo
Cast a wider net... there are incumbent politicians that sell out on both sides of the isle....
You are correct. That is what I meant...ALL incumbents. Democrats just seem to be further out into space than most Republicans. No Republicans have tried to tell me you can have a penis and be a woman, not yet anyway.
While I don’t disagree with the intent of your statement, there is a couple of reasons the legislature is consisted of lawyers and very successful entrepreneurs…time and financial security. The regular working person is just that and can’t afford to take the time off that being an elected official requires. Also, I realize that the documented salaries that reps and senators get is grossly understated, but they aren’t there just for the money. If you have very little or no other income, it would be a stretch to make a decent living on what they clear and can legally use for just living expenses. Then you run the risk of losing every 2 or 4 years and being in the “soup line”. Not just any ol Jack or Jill can do it.
The problem is all the back door deals and lobbyist dollars that they rake in. The state level doesn't seem as bad as the Federal level.

You would be hard pressed to find a member of Congress who hasn't vastly increased their wealth since being elected all while making a salary of $174K in an area with a high cost of living while most of the time maintaining a residence in their home state.

Most of them are there for the money, the power, and their ego. I have seen very few that actually care about what average Americans are going through. And I wouldnt care if they got rich or not if they were working to decrease taxes and pay down the deficit.

While it would be difficult for non politicians to get into politics, there have been a few recently who have entered the political arena at fairly high levels who are just regular folks.

I think a great deal of working men and women just don't have the stomach for politics such as myself. Being a politician would require me to be someone totally different than how I was raised. People don't want to hear the truth these days and they don't like brutal honesty. They want politicians who give them government handouts and kiss their asses....in other words career politicians.

Sounds like some/all of the medical records have been released. There was some type of injury to AM, but could the injury be equally consistent with a drugged out big man flinging himself down into the gravel? Small head injuries bleed a lot even from a fall. The phrasing used on this topic by some of the attorneys is quite calculated and flexible. (That is their job.)

Excerpt from the article below: "The Greenville News also reported that the medical notes show Murdaugh was treated for a laceration to his scalp, a small subdural hemorrhage and a skull fracture consistent with two superficial bullet wounds to the head. Fox News Digital reached out Sunday for a copy of the records."

Thats about what I saw on WISTV the other night

I’m with you. I was formally elected, served one term, and didn’t run for a second. Now this was just small town stuff, but very time consuming if you do it right. I made $300/year haha. I’m not ruling out a return later in life. However, I hated the stigma that went along with it. People hear you are elected and automatically, you are a crook. I obviously didn’t do it for the money. I just like being involved and knowing what’s going on. All that said, people who are elected to school boards are special. That has to be the absolutely worst elected position IMO.

I gave the HOA a try once. Never again. You are there volunteering your time trying the help out your community and then people think you're a power hunger a-hole. I guess that is why power hungry a-holes stay in positions like that...

This thread has it all, murder, suicide, drugs, conspiracy, fraud, and now HOA's...

Laughed when Poot said AM was not the lawyer in the case.....guess he had to but but like it matters .... just looks stupid as well....no doubt AM controlled the whole process

My question is why hasn't the other lawyer had his license suspended.....thought he got 1.4 million check for handling the case.....Sounds like he has forked it over to Bland and Richter already but he should be suspended or disbarred

I have known Harpootlisan for about 50 years. He is a damn good lawyer. When you are a criminal lawyer you represent murderers, rapists, meth heads, crooks and all sorts of despicable persons. He is a good guy and probably the smartest, most effective state senator we have. Why some on here despise him is beyond me.
Maybe because he makes a living keeping legit bad guys out of jail

He’s a criminal defense attorney. Defending their client is literally their job. He’s has to do it and he has to say what he said.
Nobody has to do anything. So if he was defending a child molester and he knows the client is guilty then he should either resign or beg the client to plead guilty. Anything less is a lack of character which is why most defense lawyers are scumbags

No one "knows" anything until proven guilty in court. I hope you never get into a situation where everyone is sure you're guilty, but you're not. A lawyer can be picky on what cases he takes, I grant you that. But his job is literally to do his best to represent the client with in the rule of law.

If it makes any of us feel better, there are 35000 law students graduating every year. Same number of “squares” in a roll of toilet paper

Bull $h!+… you think Dylan Roofs attorney who was trying to get his conviction overthrown and death sentence done away with is a good person? People caught red handed that admit to doing a crime such as Dylan Roof should be tried one day and put to death the next

While defense attorneys can be unpopular…. It’s easy to bash the hell out of them in obvious cases etc … but when you need one ….. you effing need one. Richard Rosario etc …

Those 911 calls were truly bizarre....if it is not obvious to everyone just from those calls that he is making stuff up as he goes then I do not know what to say. And that there were others involved is obvious as well.
Shady as hell that it took 12 minutes to dispatch deputies yet somehow the helicopter showed up??
