⚖️ MURDAUGH MURDERS & TRIAL THREAD ⚖️

How can anyone look at what this man is willing to do and then say, “yeah, but he wouldn’t kill his wife and kid?”

just curious with those that have that line of thought. This dude is as close as you can come to the Devil himself.

A Hampton bank CEO, under scrutiny and named in a subpoena by the disciplinary arm of the state Supreme Court investigating Alex Murdaugh’s financial misconduct, was fired on Friday. Palmetto State Bank’s board of directors fired its CEO, Russell Laffitte, as allegations came to light that the executive was involved in cases in which Murdaugh is accused of financial impropriety. “Palmetto State Bank has this afternoon permanently severed the employment of Russell Laffitte, effective immediately. The bank and its board of directors remain fully committed to their customers, employees, shareholders, and the communities Palmetto State Bank serves,” said board president Jan Malinowski, in a Friday statement.

Yep. Saw this one coming particularly after the Pinckney case demonstrated a pattern.

Now (supposedly) physical evidence connects Alex to the murders of his wife and son. If they let him post bond , someone may see to it he never makes it to trial .
That someone would likely be himself. Or some other scheme of his/his attorney’s to further cloud this case and cast doubt with a “we are all still searching for the truth and justice will never be served” from Poots.

the bank Board is made up entirely of family members. Either siblings, cousins or in-laws. Will be interesting to see how many people withdraw their funds from the community bank.

I am curious if Palmetto bank will survive this.

This happened in the mid 60s if I remember correctly and times have definitely changed.

Hometown bank President, ( my Great Uncle was on the Board) turned down a loan of $2000.00 to my parents. That was a lot of money then. I can't remember details as this was about 60 years ago but I do remember Great Uncle coming to our house and telling my parents not to worry about it. He loaned them the money interest free and told them to stay quiet and be glad they were turned down.

Parents didn't really catch on to what Dad's Uncle was saying.

Within a year Bank President was in Federal prison for embezzlement. Spent 5 years behind bars.

Uncle knew what was coming.

Bank closed within a year as folks around this small town took all their money out.

Wonder if this may happen with Palmetto?

Charles was his Dad and I think mainly in the banking biz. Tucker Lafitte in Columbia was a Dr
He is asking about Luke Laffite; who was a Dr. in Allendale. Dr. Laffite's brother, Charles, was Russell's grandfather.

Dr. Luke and my dad were great friends and I respected him greatly. The Laffite family is involved in and owns several banks in the area.

I grew up with all of these characters and this whole story is very saddening and frustrating. I am very disappointed in people I thought I knew well.

Hell I even had the Charles A Laffite scholarship at The Citadel.

I met the Dr one time I think, maybe two when he was a guest at a couple of gun club suppers. Then I ran into the Dr's daughter I think, or niece, she is an attorney in Columbia. I had to testify in a case involving several of her clients. Ms Lafitte was all I knew her as. She mentioned being from Allendale I think. I was just curious if this bank guy was a brother . Just curious - doesn't matter. I don't really know any of them other than in passing.

Russell grew up in Hampton county and if she said she was from from Allendale; she could be one of Dr. Laffite's grandchildren. Or from the Laffite's that owned Carolina Commercial Bank in Allendale/Fairfax.

The whole family is mainly in medicine or banking; with a few that are now lawyers.

Everyone in Hampton County is related, and that’s no joke.

The latest Mandy Matney podcast is awful. Every argument that Harpootlian makes is, according to her, "shocking." Really bad journalism.

Just tell us what happened and turn your sanctimony down a few notches.
Yea, you can feel the hate. Likely due to Hoop’s comments about her that were caught on a hot mike during an earlier hearing.

But, that’s “journalism” - Supposed to be objective but really a “I’m going to tell you how I think and feel” essay.

It has gotten pretty bad. Still, I like hearing actual interviews and court hearings, so I keep tuning in. She was on the defensive on Twitter yesterday about being paid for the 20/20 episode. Went on about how she hasn't been able to plan her wedding because the case is taking up all her time.

They have clearly lost objectivity. I agree with them on some stuff, but they don’t need to spin everything against Alec and his lawyers.

I will keep listening because there is good information there.

But she needs to grow up.

The guys I really enjoy listening to are Eric Bland and Justin Bamberg. Good insight from their end.. Poots seems to be in panic mode, and "that's a big deal!" LOL
