When you say firm, are you referring to the old PMPED?Isn’t there a Crosby in the Firm ? Interesting. And to read the description of that place - wow. My brother and I have farmed and ranched all our lives but have never been able to afford to fix our place up that nice. To have the means to live that well, to have all that. And yet not enough character to fill a coke bottle. Damn.
Yes. Pretty sure one of the partners is a Crosby. Doesn’t mean a Crosby can’t handle the sale. Just one more layer of interesting relations. When you say firm, are you referring to the old PMPED?
How bout a caretaker being killed there?Whether the “events” and history affect the sale I think depends on who buys it. If an individual or family bought it then the history may linger heavier. But if an investment group or company buys it as a hunting retreat, then I think the history almost adds to it in a way. If the mom and son had been killed in the house I think that hurts the sale a lot more. More of a “creepy” factor in the house.
Oh there is definitely a creep factor. I think it absolutely hurts the value when selling to an individual. But a company retreat or upscale hunt club ? Heck, it almost adds to it I think. How bout a caretaker being killed there?
Begs the question of DID AM actually have the financial wherewithal to live like that either? If his wealth came from cons and scams, he may not have had this ability himself. If you had the ability to con and scam millions, you could do this....if you had the requisite character.Isn’t there a Crosby in the Firm ? Interesting. Character. Determines many things in life.
I agree changing the law changed the cash flow from plaintiff suits PMPED/AM could file. What changed is a S.C. statute that previously allowed suits to be brought in any county in the state. For example, if you get rear ended at a light in Columbia, you could bring the suit in Hampton and hire AM. Their docket used to be crammed with people trying to change jurisdiction. As a rookie lawyer, my wife used to sit there for days filing change of venue motions that forever got denied. If she had a really good case, they would bring her into chambers and the judge would press her to settle.
That law changed about a decade ago and that's when AM's thefts ramped up.
@financeNfootball Here's one to look at.Serious buyers only......

They are not related.Rumor? Speculation? Wishful thinking?
No Idea but straight off a text from family in Walterboro
“Supposedly already sold. Austin Crosby is a partner in the firm. Pretty sure broker in charge is his uncle. He was in same fraternity with XXXX YYYYYY
Has another uncle also in firm
Probably a teaser to shut up some of the civil suits.”
No mention of murder on the property I see.Serious buyers only......

Is it known if the timber comes with the property?Lots of hardwood timber.
Timber is not worth much of anything. Muck swamp.Yes it does. Timber is probably worth over 2,000,000. There is a pending contract as of yesterday.Whoever is buying it is getting a steal of a deal.
Did the build that Taj Mahal law office before or after the change in tort law? It totally stands out in a town with minimal commerce.I agree changing the law changed the cash flow from plaintiff suits PMPED/AM could file.
A reduction in cash flow from your business model is not a reason to steal from your legitimate clients.
AM had legal choices - change his business model, scale his lifestyle to his actual income, or a hybrid of both.
No one is entitled to a certain lifestyle....but AM thought he was....if the allegations prove true. Guess the law caught up with him.
According to the podcast, these Crosbys aren't related to each other.Yes. Pretty sure one of the partners is a Crosby. Doesn’t mean a Crosby can’t handle the sale. Just one more layer of interesting relations.
Anyone who thinks they have a handle on this mess is mistaken...no crow to eat over here! It's taken me a while to process all of this circus. Just want to say I was wrong on almost everything. Mainly bc I was getting wrong info. It's loooong overdue, but I did want to come eat crow and apologize. I'm not making any more comments on any of this. Just saying "my bad". Hope you all have a great week!

No reason to apologize or blame yourself bud. I don't know your exact relationship to the family, but I doubt anyone, even that close, had any idea of everything that gas gone on.It's taken me a while to process all of this circus. Seriously. Fitsnews is all over it.I think I would be really careful of what I said on the telephone while in jail if I knew those conversations could become public record.
That quote about winning the beef sticks was gold.I think I would be really careful of what I said on the telephone while in jail if I knew those conversations could become public record.
Yeah, you'd think, right? I just finished listening to the latest podcast, and holy cow, Alec seems not to understand this very very basic thing.I mean, he hasn't said anything too outlandish yet, but he sure does speak pretty openly and leaves a lot of room for inference and assumptions. I don't know, seems like a decent investigator could sure connect a lot of dots. Not sure why, but prior to this ep, I thought John Marvin was clean. But after today, I don't really think there's a "clean" Murdaugh in the bunch. Maybe Alec's sister is OK, but still not sure.I think I would be really careful of what I said on the telephone while in jail if I knew those conversations could become public record.
MM literally said at one point I hope that SLED just heard that hahaYeah, you'd think, right? Don't piss off Timmy, don't bank at Palmetto State Bank, and land ain't cheap even after people have been murdered on it.Can those of us who haven't followed this thread closely get a cliff notes version of the 55 pages of replies /responses? TIA
yeah that was funny. I do wonder though, is anyone in law enforcement even paying attention?MM literally said at one point I hope that SLED just heard that haha
They all do it. Jailhouse phone calls are a treasure trove for investigators--even though the phones have big old warning stickers notifying the prisoners that the conversations may be recorded.I think I would be really careful of what I said on the telephone while in jail if I knew those conversations could become public record.
