⚖️ MURDAUGH MURDERS & TRIAL THREAD ⚖️

They suggested that there were guns already at the kennels. Said they had guns all around the property. And, in the past, Alex had bought both of the types of guns that were used. - Mrs. Shove
Right but where are they now? That’s the problem the state will have to clear up. Why was Alex the only person who could’ve had access to the guns and what did he do with them?

Yes. I was just responding to the poster that said, how could he be walking around with the guns and Maggie or Paul not see him.
One theory is he put the guns under his father in his coffin. Not sure I believe that, but seems like it would be easy to hide/destroy 2 guns. I put nothing past that man.

How would he do that? Unless he broke into the funeral home in the middle of the night, he would not have unfettered access to the body.

A couple hundred yards behind the moselle house is a huge swamp. would be easy to dump guns there and leave

The blue raincoat is the question I have.

Why put it in his mother's house.

So what if it has gun powder residue.

Alex will try it on. It will be too small. "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit!" Where have we heard that before?

From being in that area of the state - just because the casings and shells came from a gun type that they own, doesn't mean that there aren't many more of those types in the area.

The body cam video isn’t being show on the Law & Crime channel. I assume that the video they are using isn’t integrated into the court TV camera system.

Body cam video can be some of the most troubling to see in court. The emotions are raw and real — and fresh.

The shells can be traced back very accurately to if they were shot from the same gun. The firing pin as well as the ejection mark are unique to each and every gun....like fingerprints of a person

In laymans terms, what is the likely violation of protective order that chris wilson emailed the judge about last night?

Given that Buster and Alex's brother are at the trial sitting behind him, I presume they believe he is innocent...
I've been wondering this. What does Buster think? Any chance he thinks his dad did it, likely did it, is capable of doing it or flat out wouldn't, couldn't and didn't? One would think he would have an opinion.

Anyone heard?

So there are other shells that match the ones around the bodies, but still no murder weapons?

Defense attorney is coming across as unlikeable, the incompetence with the technology is not helping the defense. I am trying to be very objective watching this as if I were a juror. Little things like this could overall sway a juror's conclusion about his guilt/innocence.

Agree this cross Is pretty disjointed

Investigators botched that crime scene or at the very least failed to keep it pristine, and then immediately told the public there was no further threat to the public. Talk about a screw up. Yikes...

However, Poot comes across as boring and a jury may struggle with him.

From the first day I have believed Alex killed both of them because the wife wanted a divorce and the son was causing more financial pain with his upcoming trial and previous screwups. However, I don't think Alex pulled the trigger and had one person do it with 2 different guns to try and confuse authorities. (easier to keep one person quiet)

I'm looking for a hung jury. Just like the OJ trial they will win by picking the right jury. There's a reason they wanted to keep the trial close to home. They only need one juror to hold out.

My personal opinion is they are all pigs at the trough. The grandfather, grandmother, sons, wives and adult children.....they have been screwing the people of that area for over 100 years and everyone in the family knew and benefited from it.
I agree with most of this. My question is this though, if the Murdaugh's have been screwing people for generations, seems like it would be tough to get even 1 juror to hold out.

I won't be surprised if the verdict is not guilty, or whatever. If he doesn't go to prison, I will be surprised if he has not been found dead soon thereafter.

They've also made a lot of people rich through frivolous lawsuits.

The thing that is so odd about the raincoat is that the gunshot residue was found on the inside of the coat. The insinuation is that Alex wrapped the guns up with the raincoat and put them in his car when he left. He then disposed of the guns sometime during the hour he was gone. I think it also possible he stashed the guns at his parents house while he was gone and then went back over the next few days and got rid of them before that house was searched. No idea why he stashed the raincoat back at his mothers house

Seems like if he is logical enough to get rid of the guns, then he would have gotten rid of the garment that it was wrapped in. This tells me that the coat wasn't used to wrap the guns and he didn't know it had blood on it.

Since they have the cell phones, they can tell when the cell phone was last used and when it went into its locked screen and not used again.

You can assume that they were shot after last lock
That's not necessarily true. If I don't use my phone and it goes into lock in my pocket or purse, or jacket, or where ever and I could get shot an hour later.

The argument is that Paul was in the middle of a Snapchat conversation (back and forth) and that Maggie was a frequent phone user, but both of their phones went cold within one minute of each other. That's a pretty solid case that something happened at that time to stop their phone use at 8:49 PM.

That would require the prosecutor to actually have the guns

No you dont. As mentioned earlier, the science says every gun manufactured has its own fingerprint that is imprinted on casings. If you have two separate casings you can compare them to each other to show that the casings were fired from the same gun. You dont need the gun to compare the casings.

Waters brought his A game so far today and Harpootlian hasn’t done so hot on the cross examinations.

Maybe, but what other reasons is there for a bunch of gunshot residue on the inside of a rain coat? I agree that it isn't very smart, but he could just be that stupid. Also supposedly the video that was taken of them right before the shooting, shows Alex in different pants etc than what he was wearing when he showed back up and "found" the bodies. Those clothes have disappeared and never been found

Now, that would be interesting and pretty telling.

I might just not have payed attention in other cases but is it normal for the defense and state prosecutor to be chatting it up and laughing with each other during recess?

So the clothes he was wearing and the guns have dissappeared. Then why wouldn't the rain coat that was allegedly with him also trashed?

I haven't seen the video - was he wearing the raincoat at any point? Was the raincoat in his car the day of the killings?

My guess is maybe the coat was either laying in the car or in a place that he was near during or after the killings. Maybe it was laying in a manner that it was "open" and blood residue dropped or got on the coat and Alex didn't realize it.

These lawyers are just like pro wrasslers. They fight like cats & dogs when the camera's rolling then ride to the next venue together. Probably dine & drink together as well.
Not unlike the circus in Washington DC.

I get what you are saying and no clue in this situation but some of the big firms that go head to head regularly in big cases sincerely hate one another
