Probably Chanley Painter who works for Court Tv. She was Miss Arkansas back in the day. Watched her in the Johnny Depp trial and she tended to wear red a lot.Not her. This was a brunette sitting in back of courtroom on prosecution side. May be a reporter. Dont see her today
The vast majority of murder prosecutions are based on "circumstantial evidence" rather than direct evidence (eyewitnesses). Not a big deal at all. After thinking a bit on the opening statements I got the impression that much of the prosecution will be relying on a good bit of circumstantial evidence, although it could be quite compelling. OTH the defense wants to question 'why would a loving father/husband do just a heinous execution?'.
Buckle up boys and girls.
That is Harpootlian's story that he's selling the jury but the actual evidence is contrary to his arguments. He will try to obfuscate and confuse the jury when the evidence is presented by the state. The prosecution stated there is a rainsuit (or tarp) that Alex brought back to his mom's house and stashed there that has GSR on it. There is a witness to him bringing that into the house. He’s guilty of a lot of things it seems. To me, they painted the picture it’s going to be hard to prove that he’s guilty of killing his family in that manner, in that time frame and never had any notice of it. No GSR, nothing on his clothes, searched his house the night of. Two different guns used in a very short time and no sign of either. No witnesses. Its not impossible that he didn’t do it either. Seems to be the same amount of evidence.
That’s pretty tough
Maybe but that hasn't been entered into evidence or testified to other than the opening statement.for the rain coat discussion above, I thought there was just GSR on the inside and not blood but not sure if I am correct
I can't recall what we have learned was on the inside of the rain coat but listening to one of the officers speak now, he talks about how GSR has a "life" of 6 hours so I would wonder how they would determine there was GSR on the inside of that jacket if was found days or weeks later.for the rain coat discussion above, I thought there was just GSR on the inside and not blood but not sure if I am correct
The state said raincoat and the defense claims the witness refuted the raincoat when presented and said it was def a tarpThat is Harpootlian's story that he's selling the jury but the actual evidence is contrary to his arguments. Alex had at least an hour from when both Maggie and Paul's phone's went silent to him calling 911 to wash/change/stash/hand off items to get them off of the crime scene.
That witness to the blue tarp should be interesting. That is Harpootlian's story that he's selling the jury but the actual evidence is contrary to his arguments. I thought about this as well.Just listened to about 30 minutes on the live stream… Alex mentioned checking the bodies for a pulse in the 911 call. This detective (whoever is on the stand at 3:50) mentions that most of Paul’s head is gone. Do you check a pulse on someone with no head?
I’m not sure how you could even understand the audio. I could only catch bits and piecesI thought about this as well.
They just called the first witness today. The trial just started. The financial issues may be admitted to show motive and context. He of course won't be tried on those in this trial. That’s going to make it hard for the prosecutor to use as motive. Of course that’s all conjecture as well
Don’t see him getting anything worse than 2nd degree. Nothing presented thus far says it was premeditated
Paul was messaging a friend back and forth about a dog with a hurt tail. That's supposedly why the three of them were at the kennel. The friend messaged Paul within minutes of the locked phone time and got no response. That will aid them timeline. That's not necessarily true. If I don't use my phone and it goes into lock in my pocket or purse, or jacket, or where ever and I could get shot an hour later.
I totally understand how it's hard to fathom but it happens every day. Most people are killed by people they know. One of the worst I've heard of it the Chris Watts case - a husband strangled his wife, then shoved both of his toddler daughters into an oil tank.I can't recall what we have learned was on the inside of the rain coat but listening to one of the officers speak now, he talks about how GSR has a "life" of 6 hours so I would wonder how they would determine there was GSR on the inside of that jacket if was found days or weeks later.
Another note, I know its been mentioned that both were brually murdered but it really hits home in a bad way when you hear descriptions of brain matter being at various places in the kennels. If Alex really did that to his own son, man....
I could understand checking for a pulse if that person has no experience around death/bodies and was in shock (i.e. JFK's brains were in the car, but Jackie still reacted like there was a chance). If I saw my kid laying on the floor, as long as all the body parts are in tack, I'm probably checking to see if there is a chance.Just listened to about 30 minutes on the live stream… Alex mentioned checking the bodies for a pulse in the 911 call. Any firms in particular?I get what you are saying and no clue in this situation but some of the big firms that go head to head regularly in big cases sincerely hate one another
Haha. Ol Alex has re-shaped his body quite a bit since this all went down. It's probably way too big now.The blue raincoat is the question I have.
Why put it in his mother's house.
So what if it has gun powder residue.
Alex will try it on. It will be too small. "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit!" Where have we heard that before?
The wall of text in most of this thread is pretty convoluted so I figured I’d share some snippets from court
Defense appears unorganized and boring/plodding along, prosecution is more engaging. As a juror, I would be more inclined to believe the prosecution at this point and zoning out mentally when Poot talks.
I want to know more about the phone on the back, has Alex said anything about it?
You can tell he’s now getting frustrated because he’s being asked nonsense but he is doing a good job.I am impressed with Officer Chapman's testimony, he comes across as authoritative and knowledgeable.
Creighton didn't say the casings and shells all over the property came from that type of gun. He stated there's some kind of "autograph" or "tattoo" or something (don't remember the precise expression he used, but that was the message I think) that tells the forensic people that the shells all over the property came from THAT gun, and that the shells/casings found at the crime scene came from that same gun. A little nuanced, but super important if true. The blue raincoat is the question I have.

From being in that area of the state - just because the casings and shells came from a gun type that they own, doesn't mean that there aren't many more of those types in the area.
Poot is wasting time asking Officer Chapman about what Sled could or could not have done that night. What is he going for here?
I missed the part about the smartphone on back. As if it was placed there? How many times does he have to see he turned it over to SLED…could they have done this, that, and the other? Sure Did they? No fvcking clue
How many times you gonna ask me. Like I tell my wife. You can ask me the same question 29 different ways and you’ll get the same answer
Still don’t know why not more talk about smart phone on his back. Way more important than these foot prints I’d think

End of day. I hope we learn more about the phone on the back tomorrow when Sled agents testify.
