Burch

That may be, but I’d classify him as a significant problem. Once Burch commits one way or another there is an entire War Room article of stuff that can be discussed.

But will that war room of articles actually make it here for us to read about? I hope so no matter where the kid goes.

Paul says Clemson has maintained contact. Maintaining contact is a lot different than being able to visit him or have him on campus. You guys need to read between the lines here. To me this is a good thing and explains a lot. Get past this little timeout we’ve been put in and then get back to work with him. Like many on here have said, the longer this plays out the better for us.

Who put Clemson in a time out, if they are actually in one, the NCAA, the Mother, Clemson and if they are in a time out what did they actually do to get put in a time out?

Threaten him with what? Playing time? Not gonna give him an A in PE?.

Give him time. The longer it goes the better for us.

IF Kimrey actually did this or tell Burch something like that I would think that would not set well with Burch or his Mother and they would tell Kimrey and USC to take a hike or lay off for a while. Much like it seems Clemson has been to told to lay off for a while.

This. Kimrey has not been professional at all.
Which is sad. One close friend of mine was the HC for a huge 5 star WR Clemson landed back under Bowden. My friend's Dad made sure that both in state schools got visits. He told me that he did it because there will come a time when you may need a job and if you burned bridges with a school then you could hurt yourself finding a job. If Kimrey is doing this what he is really hurting is if he has a kid play for him that is a Clemson fan and could play at Clemson then Clemson may pass on him just to not have to deal with Kimery. A high school coach is not supposed to push a kid towards any school. Help them sort through the process but let them decide.

so after the football season and when the HC isnt as in the picture Clemson should have less former HC presence to deal with
Two minute story about it. Pretty good.

Randy marsh....I thought this was America

grew up with Erik and have lots of contacts in this recruitment...most think he's going to usc due to his mother but kimrey has been very professional and fair

Same and I agree. Played all 3 sports w him in high school at DF. I spoke w Erik at a MS event he was speaking at a few months ago. He got a text during our conversation that Jim Harbaugh was at the school.

Erik is a good guy. His Dad, is not.

Remember that Erik was real close to being the QB coach before ole Bentley got the job. I think Muschamp missed the part that a lot of HS coaches in SC hated Bentley. Is Erik salty, no, but I assume this ticked him off at least a little.

I dont think Erik would steer a talent one way or another even one this talented. He also had great things to say about Burch as a person and a player.

I don’t presume to know what’s going through the kid’s mind. You may very well end up being right, but he also could just be wanting to build up drama like many recruits do. Or he is just simply torn right now, and that doesn’t mean either school has a better chance now or in the long run. I would not be surprised if he is waiting at least in part to see how South Carolina’s team looks this season and what kind of progress, if any, they seem to be making.
I have no intel but I could certainly see him not wanting to stir up a bunch of shit between him and his coaches, friends and teammates. Every time he visits a place where the mascot isn’t a chicken he comes home to a shit storm of questions and people trying to tell him what to do. If I was him I would want to limit that nonsense as much as possible. Same for his parents.

I definitely respect your knowledge and opinion AC. I did not get that vibe speaking to Erik, but you probably have solid info.

Do you think Muschamp passing on Erik helps, hurts or doesnt matter? What has SC done so great for him and his career? Even if he didnt play at SC he could have gotten the job he has now after growing up a coaches son. Plus Erik is way better w people than his Dad, Bud Kilmer.

Yes because Carman and Ross were visiting Clemson so often

Deep breaths people...let it play out.

Good point. Extra heat on this one though because of the extra cootland pressure and the unfavorable returns from Burch's mom, relative to that of Ross and Carmen.

Like I said in another post, though, I'm going to sit back, pour an arnie palmer, appreciate this d-line class for what it is, and let the coaches do their jobs.

Kimrey’s threats still hold weight.

This is stupid.......what the heck is Kimrey gonna threaten........ any coach stupid enough to threaten a high school players would lose his job

Sometimes Clemson’s best work is done behind the scenes
Paul's silence is telling, I am just not sure what he is telling. My guesses are either something went down that either soured our staff about him, or something we did bothered him, OR we are in better than Gamecocks think and in order to keep the young man from being bombarded they are keeping a lid on it. I hope it is the latter but silence means something.

Don’t believe everything you read.

He may be a good guy but I’m not aware of any other HS head coaches in this state, let alone the country, that run a podcast dedicated to covering a university’s football program like he does South Carolina. I’m sure there’s more to it but on the surface it appears to resonate a conflict of interests.

I still go back to the rumor that he was a Clemson fan growing up. If true, and with Clemson's success and history with DEs going into the NFL - Clemson would have an advantage.

Could that advantage be overcome by a concern of depth/playing time or "hook or crook"

YES - IT IS RECRUITING!

He's on the radio a couple times a week in Columbia. He is definitely pro UofSC. I have no idea how hard he is pushing, but I would assume at least a little.

My Friend you do not understand Recruiting! CU today, tomorrow & beyond will recruit a kid regardless of the obstacles. If this is the worst Coaches have to deal with to get a kid, they would be happy. Just relax & trust the CU Coaches to do what they do! High School Coaches, has biases...Yep!

If the kid is a borderline recruit they may not want to deal with the HC. That was my point. Clemson will always go full bore on a stud national recruit. I just do not think a high school coach should burn bridges with an in state school. It can cause issues down the road.

Fandom is different than the profession of sports. He may want Burch to go to SC, but he isnt going to go all fanboy to get it done. His podcast is ok and it gives him a chance to speak to a larger audience.

He also knows Jeff Scott very well and has for a very long time. He knows Tony. It's a small community. A guy like Erik is smart enough not to go crazy fanboy coach for a recruit. That's not a good long term plan for him.

I played at Clemson. My Dad played at SC. It's not like the venom that comes from fans. There is respect once we grow a little older and a little wiser. Have I had to fight a idiot cousin or two, sure. I made a choice and my Dad respected and was proud of it. Larry William's has no trouble writing for the Tigers. Chris Rumph has coached on both staffs. Brad Scott. Miles Aldridge. Rick Stockstill.

Think about it, with all the high school coaches moving up to college these days, would a private school coach put himself in a position to ONLY coach at SC if he ever wanted to move up? Forcing a kid to go to a school he Walked On at is not a good plan for advancement.

I don’t doubt that you know Kimrey well, but you don’t seem to have a great grasp on what he will or won’t do in regards to pushing Burch to USCe.

And this is certainly no disrespect to you.

Again, never said he wasn’t going about it the right way. Just the fact that a high school head football coach is running a podcast focused on South Carolina football is quite different. Would say the same if someone was doing it for Clemson or any other program for that matter.

He’s joining SC flagship radio now during lunch hour for the summer

Ok, Agree & That makes sense! Thank you for clarifying!
