I don't think the problem is so much that they were served fast food (it's chintzy, for sure) but that Trump basically bragged about doing it and acted like the team should be specifically grateful for his pretty meager contribution.
They moved up the visit date by months so that Trump could brag that he bought fast food for college kids. He's just a rube.
