New republican lies in advance of the midterms.

We are going to run out if diesel fuel! The country is gong to come to a grinding halt. It is all joe Biden’s fault.

this whole narrative is total bullshit. We are not running out of diesel.

Wait, hold up. Are you telling me Tucker said something untrue? That's heresy!

The futures desks at Citi and Morgan Stanley are advising east coast clients to plan for disruptions to diesel supply. The narrative isn't bullsh*t, it's why diesel is almost $6 a gallon on the east coast.

That narrative is much different than what Fox and other repubs are saying. They are saying we are going to run out of diesel and our economy is going to crash. We are not going to run out of diesel.

Which is more accurate, diesel shortage or $5 gas when Biden took office?

they are fear mongering. We are not going to run out of diesel. That is what they are claiming.

this is similar to the “election was stolen” crowd now trying to say “well there were some irregularities”.

There is a diesel shortage right now. But there is always a lower supply of diesel this time of year. It's lower than usual but clearly Republicans are using this beyond its reality. Which makes them just like the other side. It's one thing to call out a distortion or a lie and another thing entirely to act like your side doesn't do it at all. I don't know how anyone on the left could possibly believe that they don't lie because on their side they at least get away with it because the media covers for them.

Both sides are dishonest as hell and manipulate everything for their benefit. In case you didn't know that already or have been living under a rock...

Of course they are fear mongering. But there is a diesel shortage, so there is some truth to it. There is zero truth to Biden’s claim of $5 gas when he took office. He is outright lying. As in, 100% full of shit I think the American people are stupid lying. You can’t complain about exaggerating the diesel shortage and ignore complete fabrications on your side.

Oh yes they can. They've been doing it for years and it works because people allow it to work. There's more lying and distorting than there is telling the truth.

This thread is not about Biden or anything he said about $5 gas. Nor did I say anywhere that dems don’t lie or manipulate the truth. If this want to discuss that start another thread.

you guys jumped right into whataboutism though, right on time. And you even tried to defend the lies.

sad.

You never want to thread to be about anything but what you say it should be about because otherwise you might have to actually defend your positions. And that would require you to understand something that isn't spoon fed to you on Twitter. Not good for you if that's the case.

The story I saw was the US was down to a 25 day supply of diesel fuel. This was the Tucker story. His story was accurate.

There is a diesel shortage and there will likely be stations that can't get supply. Also, prices are going to spike before end of year (almost $6 in NJ already) . We are drastically below stored supply levels, not seen since 2008......presently we have 25 days of reserve supply. That's a pretty scary number given how much of the supply chain, farming, construction etc relies on diesel fuel. Easiest way to tell how bad it is......watch related futures pricing as those guys (futures traders) have way more data and information than the average news reader from satellite imagery, transit data, average cost by location, weather data effecting delivery, cost changes in delivery etc etc.

So while the Conservative media are twisting the knife a bit, we are on the brink of a larger crisis that could result in total lack of fuel in places and insanely high prices which will obviously negatively impact inflation not to mention put pressure on farmers who are already flat margin wise.

In summary, your post wasn't the own you thought it was.

Btw - whataboutism is nothing more than one side telling you they would be happy to hear your points once you acknowledge similar infractions from your own side. The reason people hate it is it's an effective reminder that you can't throw stones in a glass house. It will also continue to get worse as the nation continues to divide and move further away form the center.

There were always irregularities. Whether one equates that to a “stolen” election is up to the individual opinion.

(Bloomberg) -- The US and Europe are struggling to make
enough diesel and heat homes, a situation that looks set to
become even more acute as winter approaches.
Retail diesel is at the highest relative to gasoline in
well over a decade as parts of Europe and the US run short of
supply.
Europe’s diesel market has shown signs of stress ever since
the invasion of Ukraine threw into jeopardy the continent’s
biggest source of external supply. From February the 27-nation
EU will ban seaborne supplies of the fuel from Russia. In the
US, inventories of distillates -- the category that includes
diesel and heating oil -- are the smallest seasonally since at
least 1993.

The fuel’s price is likely to keep rising relative to
gasoline through year-end, according to Wood Mackenzie Ltd., a
consultant.
The premium will then “stay wide until the second quarter
of 2023, when gasoline strengthens for the summer driving season
and distillates have rebalanced after the EU ban,” Alan Gelder,
vice president for refining, chemicals and oil markets at
WoodMac, said by email.
A wave of refinery strikes in France, combined with other
unplanned outages in Europe and the US, has exacerbated the
supply crunch in supply in recent weeks. Road diesel is a very
similar product to heating oil, demand for which typically rises
in winter.

Thank you for posting that and making my point for me.

Nowhere in what you posted does it say we are going to run out of diesel.

It also says that the causes of the shortage is the Russia ban due to the unlawful invasion of Ukraine and a "wave of refinery strikes in France". It does not blame everything on Biden's policies, which is what republicans are currently doing before the midterms.

Come on man. You may call this "twisting the knife", but it is blatant lies and fear mongering before an election. I know you are all fair and balanced and everything, but if the other team was doing this, you would be on here crying about it 24/7.

Just call it what it is.

Its the widest spread between Gas and Diesel prices in the last 40 years or something.

It says the Ukraine war contributed to European supply shortages, not the US if you read the article again. It also says that parts of the US are running well short of supply levels, which would indicate that there is a pretty good possibility we could run out of supply in some places.

The post wasn't meant to justify anything, just an information share from what I'd deem as a left leaning news source.

But sure, spin it brother.....spin it

just curious what would constitute a "lawful" invasion?

and sure its not entirely on biden, but he absolutely bears a strong measure of responsibility. you could even say its largely on him, just not all with policy. he was running the show in ukraine in 2014 when we organized a coup to install a friendly govt which was the initial provocation. then he enabled putin by ensuring european dependence on russian energy greenlighting nordstream 2....this was like day 2 before he even had the oval office smelling like moth balls. then he and nato failed to demonstrate any urgency or effort to actually prevent an invasion. then he completely bungled the response and coordination in it with shortsighted sanctions we were entirely unprepared to manage around - despite a substantial amount of lead time with the possibility of invasion to put an effective plan in place. and holding a gun to the oil industry's head as he asks for expensive favors to bail him out is an interesting strategy.

so all in all, its not even remotely unethical to be critical of the dems impact on energy costs. its outrageous to take even a modicum of offense to this when we had the fbi/dems/social media/cia coordinate to bury a story with a deliberate lie right before the last presidential election. and yet...that is never mentioned as a threat to democracy. as well as coordinate to launch an investigation based on a fake dossier paid for by a political opponent after the 2016 election? but its dirty politics to be critical of something because it cant 100% be pinned on biden? sure why not

If you don't realize that then you need to get your head examined. Last person in the world you should be listening to.

1. I would love to see a Willence vs. Robert reich debate on live TV. I would pay to watch him filet your ass. You would be crying before it ended.

2. attack the messenger all you want. What did he say that is not 100% accurate? Give me stats to support your argument.

1. Crime - So much here. Guns don't hurt people. They never have. The availability of guns is probably a factor in the types of crimes that are committed but not a factor in the overall crime rate because other crimes are still happening and there are so many variables here that it's impossible to just blame guns. One need look no further than the people that live in these cities that are so impacted by crime to see what's going on and that there is a significant problem in the breakdown of law and order. Further. you'd have to be willing to suspend disbelief to not acknowledge the way the police have been treated for every single move they make (even when it's a justifiable one) has had an impact on how law enforcement has carried out. That's before even getting to the statistics of officers shot/killed in the line of duty which has increased dramatically.

Lastly, this argument about crime increasing in Trump states is absurd on its face. First of all, this is the United States and we don't have states that belong to one side or the other. California is among our most Democrat leaning states yet it has more Republicans in it than any other state in the United States. But taking that at face value, what he doesn't say is that the rise is crime is driven by violence in cities that are nearly 100% controlled by Democrats. That's just a super lame argument. Anyone want to debate that cities like Memphis, New Orleans, St. Louis, Atlanta, etc. aren't entirely controlled by Democrats? It's so bad in Atlanta that the people in Buckhead want to split off and form their own city so they can make public safety a priority. The denial of what's going on with crime is one of the most disprovable, deceitful, patently false thing I've ever heard. That you would defend an alternative reality for political gain tells the whole story about your character and motivations.

2. Inflation - LOL where to begin. The definition of inflation is too much money following too few goods. Certainly were it not for Biden's drunken spending spree we'd still have inflation. That much is true. However, if we'd have announced clear and decisive action to deal with energy issues it would have helped immensely in dealing with inflation caused by Putin's War. Why does the war matter? Well because of our inability to have a self-sufficient energy policy and provide energy to our allies we are forced to depend on people like Putin and Saudi Arabia. That's just not a smart way of doing things. Further, everyone including people like Larry Summers have warned about the spending policies since this all began. To try and say that Biden's policies haven't impacted inflation his a claim that is demonstrably false.

The Fed was still buying bonds early this year. That's just amazing. Why was this happening you ask? Well a lot of it is politically driven. The Fed has become very political which is why the former Fed chair is not the Secretary of the Treasury. That's insane.

As Summers noted Fed policy plus the overheating through stimulus has left us in a very compromised position. It wasn't entirely avoidable but it was something that could have been limited dramatically by better policy by the Biden Administration and especially the Federal Reserve. Those people should be fired but I sure has hell don't want anyone tied to Biden having a hand in replacing them. Nor do I want that from Trump either who is also a fiscal idiot. It's ironic when he talks about the GOP protecting its corporate buddies that he shows pictures of Starbucks and Amazon/Bezos. Those are all Democrats supporters. In fact, look at the largest companies in the US and you'll see big corporations LOVE Democrats now. Why? Because their policies create bigger companies and stifle competition. They always have.

3. The IRS - He says they won't be going after regular Americans. Even the IRS has said this isn't entirely true. And let's just say it is true and they go after corporations that are "tax cheats" as he calls them. How is it a tax cheat to us the tax code put forth by our government and have astute accountants that are able to minimize taxes paid? If they are following the rules what's the problem? Further, if they do get a lot of money from corporations that cut into their bottom line, who do you think they are going to pass that on to? None of it adds up and the insatiable appetite of the government for more of our money is something that you can always count on when the Democrats are in charge.

I could go on and on with this clown. The guy is one of the most dishonest people I know of. I'd LOVE to debate him. All I would need is the truth. Look, you may love Democratic policies and think they are the right way to lead our nation. That's your right to feel that way. But it's pretty disgraceful the way you try to find "facts" to fit your desired narrative that aren't even facts. I don't know how you can just sit there and constantly link lies and distortions to further you desired agenda without seeing something is wrong here. It'd be great if you actually thought for yourself.

I write all my own posts. I know what I am talking about because I have educated myself on the issues. You just link Twitter and other people's thoughts because it doesn't appear you have any of your own. Recommend you spend some time learning and educating yourself. You'll find that both sides have absolutely essential contributions to make to our country. One side doesn't have all the answers. The problem we have now is we don't work together. Part of that is because of doofuses like you who just can't seem to pull your head out of your ass! Get off my lawn you clown!!!

the diesel shortage is caused by a couple of issues that no one has mentioned yet:

river barging in the US is backlogged and delayed due to droughts in major riverways that transport fuel domestically and there being a massive shortage of rail cars as the secondary transportation method for moving fuel in the US. BNSF, UP, CSX, NS are all massively backlogged with transportation requests and most major industrial clients are sitting at 6month+ of waiting for rail car availability instead of the usual 4-8week delay.

lies like the white house taking credit for social security payments being the highest ever this year "due to president biden's leadership?" they should clarify by leadership they mean the increase is due to a cola adjustment that happens every year, and reflects the highest inflation in 40 years taking place under biden

i mean taking credit for an auto cola adjustment is even more disingenuous than taking credit for gdp growth in 2021 when yoy was against a shut down economy or credit for job growth that was just the jobs that were lost due to govt mandated lockdowns around the country.

talk about a lying sack of sht. can can it on complaints about what anyone else is saying when you have nothing to say about the constant lies from the left. stones and glass houses

all presidents lie about pointless shit like this. hell trump used to brag about being the reason AA unemployment was at record lows when all you had to do is look at the YBY chart and see how it had been decreasing every year since 2010.

all presidents are liars, especially about things that they think will make their administration look better to voters

They managed to avoid a rail strike in Sep with a slew of new contractual/commercial terms between the Unions and the DOL. That won't help gas or diesel prices. Cost of carriage has continued to rise unfortunately.

yeah rail's an interesting beast. i've got a client that does a ton of work with UP and BNSF and apparently rail cars are impossible to come by right now. steel mills are buying up every "old" rail car they can find, and instead of sending damaged and aged ones off to repair they're just selling them to steel mills. take it for what it's worth, but he said that is helping cause some of the major disruptions rail has been dealing with the last 12 months or so. the looming threat of more rail strikes is definitely contributing too i'd imagine.

i'm admittedly way out of my depth wrt to barging and rail issues so i don't want to start spreading unverified or false info.
