⚖️ MURDAUGH MURDERS & TRIAL THREAD ⚖️

So you’re suggesting he was paying off his law partners so they would let him steal from them………that makes no sense….

My guess is that the paralegals and accounting clerks in the law firm feared and trusted AM and did not question things. As well, the clients he stole from are, pardon my generalization, gullible and uneducated. Add that to the fact that the CFO obviously didnt review the bank recs and 1099s and here we are.

He certainly could have been paying off folks but it wasn’t his law partners.

I did not suggest that.

I can tell ya the CFO didn’t find out for years about it, wouldn’t think the partners were aware of it. She would know beofre them, no? She sure as hell didn’t act like she was involved and no way she would cover up, seemed like an f ing pistol
99% of his stealing was through clients custodian accounts at Palmetto State Bank. Off the firms books with the scumbag CEO assisting. He never shorted fees thus was able to keep up the scam.

I didn't really have any issues with his comments, until this last one:

He also had three words for people he said slept outside for nights to get a seat in the gallery during the trial: “Get some help.”

There are a lot worse things that people can obsess over in our world than this trial.

Plus, what would he say about those of us who filled up 193 pages (and counting) on Tiger Illustrated? :)
Nah me either. Poot is crafty smart. Just not sure how I’d feel if he was my senator and I went without representation for a month and a half of session.

99.999999 percent of inebriated people driving that boat are in jail a few hours later.

99.999999 percent of family members aren't allowed to tow away the freaking evidence the next morning.

I get it: That was just that family's normal after running that community for a century. But it doesn't make it any less repulsive to the rest of the world.
Lol.

I'm not trying to defend them and I agree PauPau should have been locked up immediately after he got medically cleared at the hospital if they knew he was driving the boat. A convenient he said she said apparently was going on. Hell, they probably could've locked him up for disorderly conduct just by the way he was supposedly acting in the hospital.

I don't understand the John Marvin picking up the boat. I'm curious was SOP is/was. Were the authorities done with collecting evidence? Surely he didn't just show up in that mob and steal the boat. It would take time to get it loaded, secured, etc. He had to have asked someone with authority for permission. Whoever allowed it is more to blame that JM IMO.
Yep. When people wreck cars they leave them there for a few days.

How much evidence is there on a 16ft boat. Did y’all want them to keep it there a week?

LE doesn’t haul away cars/boats in wrecks.

The John Marvin hate is absurdly dumb.

I have to ask, why are we so hooked on this $#!+ ? It’s like watching Ozark itching for the next season and wondering if there will be one…

I think we are all twisted 😬

But still hoping for another season!

Can't imagine bragging about breaking the law and drinking to excess.

We must assume you are a changed person. Moderator and all now.

Still somewhat strange.
I assume this remark is made with your tongue firmly in your cheek. If my assumption is bad, the best I can say is that your imagination is very limited.

I actually watched an old Columbo episode featuring Johnny Cash over the weekend.

I'm attracted to it because it's my home state and I'm disgusted that a family can be that much in control of justice in a community for that long -- but also refreshed and proud that it's all being exposed and prosecuted now.

What's patently dumb is calling it "hate" when it's mere scrutiny of questionable actions within a family with a long history of doing shady things.

Zero hate for John Marvin here, but keep doing your thing man.

You really think if you wrecked a car or boat and killed someone that you could just call a family member to have it towed away without permission? Come on

Thanks for quoting this. I missed it but it gave me quite the laugh.

On top of allowing only the Murdaughs near the scene of the accident, whereas parents of the victims couldn't get close to it. I'm sure that would happen to everyone.

Do we know it was moved without permission?

Based on everything we know, the Murdaugh family didn’t ask for permission to do much. But I guess time will tell

But I can’t imagine if it happened anywhere else law enforcement or DNR being OK with the boat being towed away without being investigated

I’ve never heard of a car or boat being hauled off immediately in a fatality like that

You're old like me. Much more time to do stupid or illegal things.

You may not be a moderator on here, but maybe another responsible, leadership position.

Not over a beer, privately and off the record...... Let's here how many lawless acts YOU want to brag about so you can 'fit in' or sound tough.

Yeah, be proud of breaking the law, you badass you.....

We'll be waiting, with baited breath.

The Murdaugh influence on the boating accident is only a glaring example of what happens everyday. Their ability to influence law enforcement at the outset of the investigation is not normal, but money and influence gets A LOT of people of out of tough situations everyday. I mentioned previously that I clerked for a judge for a year. I saw things in our judicial system that floored me and it completely changed my opinion of the fairness of our system. It is the greatest in the world, but far from equal.

aren't vehicles pretty much removed from the side of the road fairly quickly, as in almost within an hour or two, even in a fatality?

I don't know what the protocol is on boats, but I can't imagine DNR didn't already have any info they needed off the boat by the next day. Not sure why they would want it left at the landing? Maybe moved to one of their facilities is the correct answer, and moved by them?

Doesn't seem like anyone in LE has raised an issue with the boat being removed the day after. But maybe that is coming when the girl's family gets into court with the convenience store owners?

If it makes you feel better I haven't used a fake ID since I as asked to be moderator or since I turned 21. Oh, and I do not hide my identity behind an internet handle online either. I am who I am

But being the old, easily agitated old man you are, I am sure you never broke any law. Probably drive 5 mph under the speed limit in the right hand lane.

Relax man. No clue what being a "moderator" which is not my job has anything to do with joking about having a fake ID when I was younger. Sorry that got you so worked up...I'll try to represent TI better and not mention stupid shit I did as a kid in threads you are a part of any longer. Have a good day

I have a buddy who is with the highway patrol. not sure his title but it is something to do with accident investigations and he is brought onto site to investigate fatalities and such.

I can tell you I doubt a family member of an accident is allowed to call a tow truck before him and his team put together their investigation. Yes, they are towed but no family member of the driver is calling to have it removed

As the prosecution stated many times...use common sense. The Murdaugh family had a member of their family driving a boat drunk that killed someone. No one in that family should have the power or ability to have the boat towed. If I was the father of the passenger that was killed and that happened I would be pissed and would be demanding answers. The family of the deceased could not get answers or near the crime scene. How could the family of the drunk guy driving the boat?

Thank you.

"I'll try to represent TI better and not mention stupid shit I did as a kid"
That would be a good start.

Lashing out because you decided to brag about stupid, immature stuff and get called on it.

Being asked to be a moderator SHOULD come with a modicum of responsibility to be a little above the roar and chatter of the norm, am I right @Cris_Ard ?

Yes, you let everyone know who you are and where you went to school and where you live and what you do for a living and who you know...
You are not shy about that.

So, bragging to your old cronies? Publicly?
Must be a cultured crowd.

Most people, as they mature, learn to leave childish things behind.
Certainly, everyone remembers things they wish they hadn't done: legal and illegal.
I do.....way too much and too many.
Not many would brag to total strangers about them.

Some might, as evidenced by some of the trashy comments on here by people that would likely never say the same in person if not hiding behind a 'handle'.

Surprised that @Ole Tom wanted to fan the flames of impropriety.
Maybe he's setting us up for a 'tell all' post.

BTW, Nick (apologize for using first name as we don't know each other) I appreciate all the many topics you bring to the board and how you fight for your position without lashing out at individuals even when they get a little out of control.
Class.
I personally believe you to be a good guy.

I KNOW you are an example to some; probably many. Exemplar to a lot of folks, maybe.

As you wished me, I wish you a Great Day of ACC Tournament action.

In high school, I had some dude's ID that worked in a warehouse with someone I knew that looked enough like me. Dude said for $25 he said he'd get you one. Deal done

My brother will get drunk and still call me by that name and bust out laughing.
McLovin??

my point was I don't think it was really asked for. I think it was more "we are gonna get this boat outta here" and no one had the balls to challenge them because of their clout

Kinda. But it was even worse than that.

Once LE learned that a Murdaugh was implicated, they took actions to protect Paul. So my point is that DNR and several BCSO people were going to do what they could to protect Paul whether any Murdaugh requested that or not. Those guys heard "Murdaugh," and undermined the investigation from the start. That is not in question.

I don't know exactly how the communications went between LE and John Marvin regarding the boat. But what I would imagine likely happened is that LE actually told JM to pick the boat up. Same with his clothes and phone.

Obstruction of justice stuff is still under investigation. I have no clue if anything will ever come of it.
