⚖️ MURDAUGH MURDERS & TRIAL THREAD ⚖️

It's not the job of LE to protect the emotions of the Beach family. They denied access to the Beach family AND their attorney while giving the Murdaughs free reign at the crime scene. There was absolutely evidence to cover up/dispose of. There is no logical explanation why the family of the accused were allowed in while the family of the victim were kept out otherwise!

Beach family had no attorney at that time. Otherwise, agree.

No to all the above. I've stated they should have retained the boat, but they likely needed a trailer. I'm just saying we were not there and we do not know the motives behind why things were done the way they were. Some of this will come to light if there is a trial this summer. I'm not going to automatically throw blame on all the LE personnel down there, and label them as crooked just because there was a Murdaugh involved. There are a bunch of Richie Roberts for every corrupt officer out there. Someone would have already said something if something of vital importance was intentionally tampered with. The boat case is pretty tight and not nearly as circumstantial as the murders. Let's not over dramatize this. It is obvious what happened now. While the boat could have and should have been kept as evidence, it likely would have provided very little beyond what they had already collected from it.

What does the bolded statement mean?

I get the sentiment about the death penalty....but for someone like AM, maybe a life sentence sitting in jail with the lower class, wearing prison garb, eating crap food, following someone else's schedule, having no access to the beach or private jets, and possibly figuring out that he (not Paul) forever tarnished the Murdaugh name may be the better justice.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. The wheels of justice ⚖️ are said to run slowly, but I imagine the prison timeclock runs at a 🐌 snail's pace. A life sentence would be a daily reminder of my crimes and a daily reminder that I'm left to rot.

I certainly see that side of the coin as well.

Glad that he will no longer be able to enjoy the life he had grown accustomed to (and stole to maintain).

We should also discuss the rumor that Grandpa Buster apparently telling Elick that either you take care of Paul or I will.........I swear that was said at some point.....
I said this a while back - I think it’s entirely possible that this was a hit called by Randolph and orchestrated by the family and Alec. The “why’d you have to get involved Paul” plays into this. Murdaugh and Murdaugh legacy trumps everything, even family.

It’s Mafia-like but not a new concept. Yes a TV show, but Adriana had to get whacked in the Sopranos even if Christopher didn’t want it.

This is weird but I was thinking he looks more healthy. Maybe he can put the shaking/jittery/addict/famished charade behind him and get back to evil chubby Alec.

Sorry I’m advance to @CUFamily6 who is clearly related to the family in some way.

he is pretty defensive of the Murdaugh fam isn’t he

So did Randolph put the hit out on Ellick too? Just doesn’t make sense to me that someone would hire a hit and then be present for it. Just doesn’t make sense to me.

Good stuff here from Harpootlian.

Nice references here to John Adams and Abraham Lincoln I was not aware of.

I understand the system and it is his job to get his client off.

Dang were his feelings hurt by those emails.....why does he waste the state legislature's time with all that.....didn"t he get caught in a lie as well....showing his ego here

Some might say he did not do his job very well in this case. Had heard alot about him but was far from impressed

I bought the book "Murdaugh, She Wrote" by Kathleen McKenna Hewtson to see if it includes the statement "If you don't take care of Paul, I will." It does on page 25. Someone overhead Alex's Dad saying that to Alex.

Issues created by and problem solving from that branch of the Murdaugh lineage is Ozark on steroids.

You are right.

Brilliant

You sound like a blast at parties.

Can we please keep this about the Murdaugh stuff?
Agreed.

There should never be discussion about being responsible [as one grows up?].
Your idea of a party is clearly labeled and understood by the masses here.

Cocktails, suitable social attire and lavish food are tons of fun.

PARTEEEE! If you're not outdrinking/smoking/snorting everyone.......you're not partying
Oh.
And especially if you broke the law and used a fake idea to buy alcohol underage.
PARTEEEE on kid.

Yeah.

That's cool.

Meh.
There is a middle ground. Comfortable enough in one’s own skin to say “I wouldn’t do that today - but I’m not ashamed of what I did when I was a kid”

You seem to think that admitting flaws is some shocking disclosure of your normality and mortality. Me? Everytine I step on water my feet tops get wet. I’m not ashamed of that

He made some good points that I wholeheartedly agree with regarding how our justice system is designed to work. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty and everyone has the right to counsel who will defend them, but this podium pandering is another lame attempt to save face and reputation in a haw haw (rhymes with Pau Pau) kind of way, in a taxpayer public forum. You got whipped and your ego is hurt, now go take a lap.

However, he came off as a clown during this whole saga, pre trial, during trial, and now somewhat post trial (though there’s still time). The charades about filing motions late on Friday afternoons and then hosting press conferences to bitch; beginning trial with an “I am honored to represent Alex,” trying and failing to get witnesses to crack under pressure, and even in this video saying how he doesn’t always do things so great…your time is up Dick.

So did Randolph put the hit out on Ellick too? Just doesn’t make sense to me that someone would hire a hit and then be present for it. Just doesn’t make sense to me.
In my mind, Randolph was still the Boss. Alec was ready to take over and had been groomed for this role. JM and woodstacking Randy are a part of la familia and simply yes men. Murdaugh and Murdaugh legacy over everything. Perhaps Randolph called it as his days were numbered and every fell in line. Perhaps Alex was supportive or even promoting it for one reason or another, to prove his worth to his daddy or because the pills and paranoia were talking. Maybe it was all Alex or maybe there really was a second shooter. Either way, Mags and Pau Pau were lured there at a specific time for a specific reason.

What does the bolded statement mean?
Meaning there were so many LE folks and agencies involved that someone would’ve said something to someone by now. This is all so high profile that it would have come out. Maybe something will at trial. LE retire, get fired, change jobs etc. If something of substance was out there, it would’ve come out by now.

A lot has already come out.

Great read!

I too still believe it was a mistake to put him on the stand. Jurors will always find it difficult to be sympathetic to habitual, admitted, liars regardless of the crime.

I'm sure folks in the legal/trial/jury world knew what was coming, but the way Alex was dismantled by the prosecuting attorney and forced, step-by-step, to agree to the timeline and important details throughout that night as well as the proceeding 20 years was just fascinating to watch. Effectively admitting his guilt.

Only a true narcissistic sociopath would think they could get away with that.

He failed spectacularly.

"Mr. Murdaugh wishes to take the stand."

I believe those words by Griffin were carefully chosen...as if to say, "This will be an abomination and against all advice offered by his representation, but he wants to do it."

Is there another one other than the 3 released a few weeks back?

not sure...maybe it is just the newest to me. My wife put it on and I hadn't seen it and thought I'd seen them all. It is the Southern Scandal one. I googled and it looks like it might be the one you are talking about

They're not going to do it, but if I could be a fly on the wall and whisper into the ears of Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin, I'd tell them to move on and distance themselves from this Murdaugh business altogether. But that's just me. And I like and respect both gentlemen. I have never met Mr. Griffin but did meet Mr. Harpootlian a couple of times when I lived in Columbia years ago. I've always been impressed with him and when I've had an opportunity to listen to him speak, I've always taken advantage of it.

I understand the optics of this as well. However, from a LE perspective, I probably don't want the family of a lost person, who has likely passed, down hearing all the person to person or radio discussions about what's going on. I wasn't there, but the realist in me thinks they were probably trying to protect the Beach family from that. Why else wouldn't they let them down there? Nothing really to cover up to help PauPau at that point.

A DNR agent literally told the mother of another of the kids, that night:

"We don't need to call Mallory's parents. We don't want to bring more confusion to this."

Sorry, but they lose all benefit of the doubt based on that alone.

Combine that with the established fact that Murdaughs were allowed onto the scene and no one else was, and there's no way to rationalize how LE handled things after the accident.

To quote Judge Newman, this family had access to the wheels of justice for a century. It's hard to make the case that the aftermath of the boat wreck was remotely a departure from this established pattern.

yeah that is absolutely unacceptable. I mean Alex was at the hospital with his badge in open site for everyone to see. He was acting as a LE agent himself to find out just what the story was and how he was going to begin the cover up.

And to think: If not for the advent/proliferation of cameras almost none of this would be coming to light.

It'd be all hearsay.

"Alex, did you wear a badge to the hospital?"

"No."

"OK."

"Did you even go to the hospital?"

"No."

"OK."

I'm attracted to it because it's my home state and I'm disgusted that a family can be that much in control of justice in a community for that long -- but also refreshed and proud that it's all being exposed and prosecuted now.
I agree. I’d also add the the drama and the twists & turns are a better/crazier story line than I have seen in most detective shows.

without smartphones Alex is a free man for murdering his wife and child as well. There would have been no evidence whatsoever.

The critical reason why he took the stand.

I follow this YouTuber who dissects narcissistic personalities. AM is now on the list. First video had no analytical (just saying they are going to dissect AM), but I'll post if future videos do. AM stole millions from many and is many many YouTubers rich. America is on board this true crime Titanic.
