⚖️ MURDAUGH MURDERS & TRIAL THREAD ⚖️

Hampton is one of the most, if not the most, Plaintiff friendly counties in the state. Because of that, lawyers will try to bring their case in that county (called "forum shopping") to encourage a bigger settlement than the case might otherwise generate. As you get further into the litigation, many small shop plaintiffs lawyers will associate a big name firm to help bolster the credibility of their case, which adds pressure to the defendant (i.e. the insurance company defending the case) to make a payment.

Firms that have big name/clout (like the Murdaugh firm) - some of which is legit and some of which is old boy network - and become the face of the case usually get compensated very well (even if they do little other than use their reputation to procure a big settlement). So you take one of the most well known firms in the county that has the highest dollar figure settlement/verdict amounts and you get a pretty lucrative operation.
Right I get all that. But if these reports are true, those mother fvckers have no accountability of each other.

Is there a cliffs note version of this thread anywhere?

Is this post real life? I’m sure @murdaugh appreciates your thoughts for his kinfolk...

Holy shot @AtomicTiger , I promise I have overlooked this thread for reason I guess. But I posted all that like it was new news hahah so I can laugh with you at myself here lol. The title Colleton County never registered to me as I don’t know all the counties in lowcountry by name.

thanks for throwing my dumb a$& post in the thread it belonged in whomever did that. I promise I’m not that slow, county just didn’t ring a bell so I never opened it. Shit is still freaking fascinating though.

I hate to actually say this but they have been all over this story.
Most intriguing reading in the past year for me is the Thornblade/yoga fiasco ( which turned out to be true…..people still making moves and counter moves/ lawyering up) and now this story….
Indeed they brought the news out and stayed on it

You can like Will or hate him, but his and his colleagues sources here are pretty good. He is talking to all the right people.

The latest “insider” story:
Paul was supposedly high on Coke and gets into a huge argument about his dogs—how much trouble they are and how much they were costing the family. He becomes uncontrollable and starts shooting the dogs. His mother (Maggie) tries to intervene and Paul shoots her. Buster comes up and discovers what happened and subsequently shoots Paul. Father (Alex) comes home and tries to cover up things.

Thats the latest from a few locals which may as well be the Hampton Enquirer
Can believe that - personally I would be willing to shoot someone who shot my dog.
I don’t know, but, I will tell you, there are a lot of locals that read this update and didn’t bat an eye.

We do know that they opened the Smith Case back up, so they obviously have something.

Also makes you think, and I’m not a conspiracy guy in the least, if a powerful family can do this and get away with it in a small town, what kind of things can really powerful people get away with on a National and WW scale?!?!
Doubt it completely scales up. On a WW scale you get a LOT more press attention. Lowcountry SC doesn't get much attention.
It's not just the diet sodas. They have already effed with red can Coca-Cola. It's no longer labeled as 'Original Formula', but rather 'Original Taste' (which it isn't).
And changed the label for Coke Zero. Had me confused for a week!
It was a podcast called Carolina Crimes posting that "a source" told them police had just unearthed three cars that were buried on the Murdaugh property, two of which were believed to be linked to prior crimes and one with unknown importance. They were apparently completely wrong.
I have listened to a couple of episodes of that one I think. Was a pretty tough listen. Neither person seemed to know what they are talking about.
Heard thru the grapevine that discovery from the wrongful death suit has produced evidence that Alex was directing the other kids in the boat not to share the fact that Paul/Timmy was driving when the Mallory Beech death occurred. Not hearsay, but first hand on the record official testimony by one of the kids. Lawyer folks I know say that is the type of thing that gets one's law license revoked. This is not necessarily germane to the double murder investigation but it is the only substantive new info regarding this whole cluster-F I've heard with any real teeth.
Alex's law license was suspended so that might hold some water.
Apparently you’ve never been to Hampton County. There’s not a service station on every corner.
Cell service likely spotty too.
True but there are a lot of helpful people there!
Unless you pissed them all off.......
More people than you can imagine. Javis Austin is one example...although I don't know that Javis was capable of making a phone call. My wife is a critical care nurse and says it happens frequently.
I have an inlaw who put on a motorcycle helmet and tried to shoot himself. Made a real mess of it - he lived but fvcked up his jaw to the point he had to have it put back together with a wire thing that looked like he had a microphone headset on. Supposedly the helmet was to keep his head from exploding.

I don't know that he would have been able to make a phone call after that though. Also he was supposedly actually trying to kill himself, not fake it.

Lawd. Can’t imagine what he did to people to have people ready to kill you on sight 24/7/365.
Allegedly obstruct justice for the person (who happens to be your own kid BTW) who killed their daughter/niece/cousin? Plus the Smith case is still out there. I can imagine the Murdaugh's have a lot of enemies who, while they might not 'hunt them down' would be willing to kill them if they happen upon the right circumstances.

And one other point - he was shot with a .22 I think, which is a) pretty much ubiquitous and b) damn near impossible to trace I think.
Him being admitted into rehab after this incident tells me something is way off. When someone intended to kill you, rehab isn’t typically where you go. Rehab is where you go when you tried to kill yourself.

Clearly he has done something he feels the need to apologize for.
Or he is setting up an alibi or something similar.
Nancy Grace: Guilty until proven innocent
Guilty until - ah fvck it, they're guilty regardless of the evidence.

Reporting the knife to slash the tire was found….and it belongs to Alex.
Technically it was 'linked' to Alex. Not sure what that means. Most likely means it belonged to him but if it is linked through a case somehow this shvt gets a lot stranger.

Yeah, I think most could put 2 and 2 together and figure out this was made-up and/or staged. I mean, the day after he is allegedly shot by a passing pick-up truck, he apologizes and tells the world he has a substance abuse problem and is going to rehab. Like Chewbacca, that does not make sense.

Yeah this is the only time I've heard of someone getting shot and they apologize.

Regardless, how in the #311 do you get a slashed tire while driving down the road? That would be some serious Road Runner $#!+.

Authorities better have him on suicide watch. His arrest has to be imminent and we're hopefully going to finally get some concrete details.

Well, ya see, a guy was kneeling on the shoulder of the road and held the knife out that he stole from Alex's house, which slashed the tire as he was driving by. Then the guy on the shoulder of the road got in his truck and drove past Alex, who was stopped on the side of the road with the flat tire. Then he thunk on it more and then decided he would turn around and fire a bunch of shots at him.

Maybe there will be faulty security cameras in the jail ala Epstein.

But yea, there ought to be 2 people with eyes on him at all times, that rotate off one at a time.

Possible motives?
- Wife was going to divorce & take a ton of money.
- Details of personal/business finances about to be made public. Possible embezzlement.
- Re-opening of son’s criminal activity, which could implicate father in cover-up/payoffs.

You kill both wife and son, and most of your problems go away?

How it has played out so far, nothing surprises me

You can't make this shit up!

I'm thinking they (Alex, family, whoever) are trying to throw as many twists and turns into this so that there's no way to get a clean trial on anything and thus no guilty verdict based on technicalities. They are equal parts smart and crooked, after all.

"Beyond a reasonable doubt"
I agree with this......but also know when things do not go exactly as planned and you have to scramble, and Alex (IMO) has had to scramble and thus maybe did not cover everything as clean as he thought he was. My accountant always said run that tape to the end before you do anything......
